A virtual gem and one of the most significant points of interest in our city is the building complex called Minorite Church and Monastery. According to historical research findings, its construction was also commissioned by the Transylvanian ruler and military leader István Báthori. Because he was buried here in 1493, it is assumed that the building was already completed at that time. This church is a simple single-space building with one nave and an elongated sanctuary. The sanctuary has a quadrangular tower attached to its northern side. The simple church interior is beautifully complemented by the extremely diverse and richly ornamented altars and the pulpit. During the course of its recent renovation, both the tall roof structure and the slim tower, which had burned down in an earlier century, were rebuilt. The altars were also restored and, today, they stand as a beautiful sight inside the imposingly redecorated interior. On the northern side of the building, there is a peaceful closed inner courtyard. The fourth wing of the monastic quarters has also been completed, where convenient accommodation is available in a distinctive ambience.
