- The Báthori family and the church – Portrait gallery – A series of portraits depicting the relationship between the historic family and the church, taking us back in time.
- The legend of Saints’ Blood – It illustrates a mystical story connected to one of the best-known legends of Nyírbátor.
- Statue of the ancestor of the Ecsed and Somlya branches – It commemorates the ancestor of two branches of the Báthori family, emphasizing the importance of local history.
Gutkeled Pond
Gutkeled Pond is located in the town of Nyírbátor and it functions as a part of the Municipal History Walkway. This artificial pond is not a fishing lake: instead, it serves aesthetic and recreational purposes. Its aquatic life has been enriched with koi carp and goldfish, which add a decorative touch. The pond was named after the Gutkeled clan, who were among the ancestors of the Báthori family.
Statue of King Saint Stephen
The legendary king is portrayed here taking the knee, while his gaze is turned towards the sky, suggesting that he kneels only before God, and that this gesture enables him to establish and rule the country in compliance with Christian values.
The act of kneeling adds dynamism, while the pedestal provides a clear-cut connection to the town, distinctly showing the map of Hungary at that time and the area that includes present-day Nyírbátor, which the king granted to the Gutkeled clan.
The Báthoris and the church: a portrait gallery
In this artwork, the members of the Báthori family who are associated with the church are presented by using techniques that are somewhat surprising but extremely spectacular, and which powerfully convey history and the passage of time.
The first three figures emerge from the wall surrounding the walkway, as if getting freed from the captivity of time. There are two statues fully visible in front of the wall, while as we move forward, the others disappear, getting lost in the mists of history. All of them are presented in chronological order.
